Growth spurts..I know they're bad, but...DS is 22 weeks and at the moment is having 3 meals a day (cereal with fruit, 3-4 cubes veg at lunch, 2-3 cubes fruit with rice at tea), a 7 oz bottle of formula at bedtime, and is BF every 1.5-2 hours for about half an hour. That includes from 1030pm on. Dont want to give any more formula, only doing that so I get a little break. Should I be giving him more food? This started a few days ago and I am so very tired...

msdemeanor:

here an abstract of the following Departement of Health Leaflat current leaflat of Infant weaning
I knew I had read about it, lol...been driving me bonkers...couldn't remeber where...been a few years that this was a true issue for me

Page 2/ 3.3
3.3 Naylor and Morrow4 conducted a review,
which concluded that exposure of the infant
to pathogens that are commonly present in
food, could result in frequent infection. The
human gut is functionally immature at birth
in the full-term infant. Immaturities in
digestion, absorption and protective function
exist that may predispose the infant to agerelated
gastrointestinal disease during the
first six months of life. They suggested that
exclusive breastfeeding supports the infant?s
gut function during the first six months of life.
The review supported the recommendation
that infants should be exclusively breastfed
up to six months.

he is going through a growth spurt and will probably need to bf every hour to fill him up in the day time.

He slept from 7-130...a big step forward! We did then have 330, 530 and 630 though. Yawn. Thanks for asking.
