forgive me if this has been done to death, but is there ayone out there who didn't get sore nipples when they began bfing? in all the literature i've read it says it won't hurt if you're doing it 'right'. i've never met anyone who didn't experience some cracking or bleeding, whether they fed for a week or months and months.

never, the only time I've ever had any pain was while I was pregnant & breastfeeding.

I had a bit of mild discomfort for a few days and used tons of Lanisoh and was fine. I did have sore boobies for a few days too and slept with cabbabe leaves (so sexy).

However, I still feel like a beached whale 3.5mths after giving birth so the lose weight while bf is so not true for me.

Thankfully, bf for me was pretty easy as I would have given up straight away as never thought I would do it.

Now, think I will be bf dd until she goes to uni!

thecrackfox, abcess on stitches sounds awful! yeah, i guess we all get some bits bad and other bits better than we thought. i had a 'model' pregnancy, so i had to have some bad bits

i was convinced tthat when the midwife told me "some women have no problems at all" she was lying but now i stand corrected!

I had sore nipples when I got a blocked duct and mastitis but I never had sore/bleeding/cracked nipples in the early days.

pagwatch · 29/08/2008 17:28

I didn't get sore nipples ever with three Dcs. Never used creams or anything either.

Mimsy2000 · 29/08/2008 18:17

no sore, cracked or bleeding nips. i read somewhere [can't remember where] that fair-skinned women suffered with this more. i'm dark haired so proved true for me. could be rubbish tho....

i did get mastitis and that was hell.

Ready4anotherCoffee · 29/08/2008 18:24

no problems at all

must have boobs designed for it

Not me. Changed feeding positions a lot, though.

chipmonkey · 29/08/2008 18:57

Never had sore nipples but did have mastitis a few times which is toe-curlingly painful.

Poohbah · 29/08/2008 20:30

No, not at all and my baby fed ALOT and still does nearly three years later.

artichokes · 29/08/2008 20:37

I hardly had any pain, certainly no cracking or bleeding. My nipples were a little tender when DD latched on, on days 2 and 3 but Lanisohl helped and I would describe the feeling more as discomfort than pain.

suey2 · 29/08/2008 20:41

no pain here except the initial latch for the first week or so. Did have my latch corrected by a bfc
