I've just stopped BF my DD and have started her on formula. She currently has the following feeds....

5:30am 4oz
10:30am 6oz
2:30pm 6oz
6:30pm 7oz

She has been OK with that and to be fair does then sleep 11 hrs til 5:30am, but cos I have been BF her, just not sure what she should be having. I'm thinking maybe 4 feeds not enough (although she is usually more than happy to go that length of time between feeds).

I'm thinking of trying 5 feeds a day....

I would be interested to hear how much FF other 4 month old babies are having.

She is 15 lbs (75th centile).

Many Thanks

at 4 months ds had feeds around 7.30am, 11am, 3pm, 7.15pm and then one in the night any time from 2-4am. You could try a top up feed at breakfast time to get a few extra ounces into her. I think the rule of thumb is approx 2.5oz per pound of bodyweight so that would work out around 37.5oz per 24 hours for a 15lb baby (thats just a guide though and babies may want more or less than that)

DD2 is 4 mths, but only weighs 13lbs. She has five feeds at about 3am, 7.15am, 11am, 3pm and 6.45pm. She consumes variable amounts at each feed, but the total amount is usually 23-26ozsish.

I think she is eating quite a bit less than the 2.5ozs/lb calculation suggests she should, but she is gaining about 6ozs a week and seems v. happy, so it really depends on the baby I think...
