At What Age... More efficient BF?

Hi there,

At what age did you LO become more efficient at BF? My DD is 10 weeks and seems to feed for a shorter period of time recently.
She seems full and satisfied and her latch has just become significantly better but she's not feeding for 25-35 minutes anymore... Does this seem normal to you?

i was going to post 10 weeks as the answer, lol. This is when i found it 'easier' to feed.

Thanks... How long would/does your LO feed for now?

Ds4 is 18 weeks old and takes about 10 minutes total.

scorpio1 · 20/08/2008 17:19

about ten-ish minutes, she is 17 weeks

although she feeds alot in the evenings, as she sleeps through, last feed about 40 minutes

I remember that DD dramatically reduced the amount of time on the breast at around 10 weeks (maybe even a little earlier). I actually remember being worried about it and being told the usual stuff about signs (eg. wet nappies), which we all know but still get worried about it!

She is almost 23 weeks now and about 5 minutes on each side, sometimes a little more, sometimes even just one side. But she does just get on with it and not linger.

Excellent, thanks for all you responses

LO is 22 weeks - 3 mins each side, and that includes looking round at the tv, wallpaper, anything else in sight... It's like a boob drive-through

DD is six months has been doing a 3 minute feed since about 3 or 4 month, has always put on weight great, but does feed every 2.5 hours day and night!

DD 15 weeks and became more efficient about 2 weeks ago.
I can tell she suckles more vigorously, it's actually more painful.
