Is it ok to bottle feed lying down???

My dh has been giving my 5 month old a bottle during the night and often doesn't pick him up, but just lies next to him to feed him. It just seems a bit of an odd possition to feed in and I think I read something about this relating to ear problems.
Hmmm think I sound a bit neurotic now, but need to put my mind at rest! Is this ok to do? (baby is lying on his back)

Both of mine could lie on their backs and hold their bottles from 6 months - I know lots of people hate seeing this but it certainly did them no harm at all.

It feels good to know someone else is doing the same thing!
Lying down breastfeeding never worried me because he was on his side and that looked more comfortable than flat on his back.
