How many feeds a day should a bf 9 month old have?

He seems to want feeding more often than ds1 did at the same age. He has between 3-5 feeds a day plus unfortunately 1-2 during the night. He eats well normally (although has been rather fussy this week!!)

mine has approx 10 a day, including several at night (if he gets his way) was at least every 2 hrs at night until I persuaded him to have a dummy instead.

we were out this afternoon and he fed more than both the newborns that were with us lol

I think the advice might still be 'on demand' though having said that, i was rubbish at translating DS's 'demands' so opted for 4 times a day (1st thing, last thing before bed, and mid morn/mid afternoon). He was also fairly regularly waking for a feed around 2.30am (mainly out of habit, I think). He's now nearly 12mo & still in same pattern... I thought he would drop feeds, but when I looked into threads on self weaning on here I was shocked to see that it can be as late as 2yo!! (or more...). Guess it all depends on your lo.

mine was feeding every 3 hrs, round the clock, at that stage. except if we were out and he got too excited to feed, when he would go back to 2hrly at night.

my 9 month old ds has 2 or 3 milk feeds during the day plus 2 or 3 solid feeds. He hasn't fed during the night since he dropped his dream feed himself at about 6 months.

I think every baby is different, a friend of mine is still feeding her dd every 2 hours day and night! [shudder]
