Cries & cries when trying to put on breast had enough? or not enough?

My DD2 only takes about 15mins to feed - compared to DD1 who took at least 45mins.

I feel like she isn't getting enough at each sitting because she doesn't stay latched on for the full 15mins but goes on and comes off again - not like a nice steady feed.

She often cries and cries in frustration when I'm trying to get her to either stay on a bit longer or on the other breast.

If she goes to bed at 7ish - she will then wake at 9/12/3/5ish so it feels like she isn't getting enough in the day - but how do I get her to take more???????

I'm BF'ing btw - last night I gave her a bottle of formula at the 9pm feed as I am planning on my husband doing the dreamfeed to let me get some kip - she slept till 12.45 - which is the longest strech she's done.

Anyone else had this?

She is 5weeks old btw!

Mine is doing the same thing at 3 weeks, will be watching this thread for info.

She is really windy, I have found that she comes off when she needs to burp and will go back after that...

Mine too, she has had real problems getting wind up (really mucasy and wheezy since birth), although it has been getting better. But we still have this crying / does she need more milk / quick feeds thing even after a really good burp or 3

she sounds absolutely normal for a 5 week old tbh.
some babies are qwuicker at feeding, try not to compare to dd1 (hard, I know)

the nightwakings are normal now. my 9 month old still feeds 2 hourly at night, so I honesltly wouldn't worry too mcuh

sounds very normal to me - my ds2 (now 4 mo) woke up every hour and a half through the night at 5 weeks iirc. He also fed all evening until about 10/11 so I didn't get a break at all.

It does get easier though!

I had similar probs with mine. She is now 16 weeks but up to about 12 weeks she would come off the breast after a few mins screaming. Generally this happened in the afternoon and early eve feeds, in fact never really got her to feed past 5pm (until in the night of course...). She suddenly settled down at about 12 weeks and has fed happily and enthusiasically ever since at all times. Can only really put it down to wind or colic so not really any help for you but thought I'd share my experience and hope things improve for you. My dd also never wants to feed for more than 10 mins. Maybe they are just very efficient and taking too much too quickly sometimes causing them tummy ache?
