5 month old - exclusively b/f and training program

Posed this in 'going back to work' without any replies

I have been accepted onto a training program in exactly the field I want to work. This is great news.

But, the program only runs twice a year and is a few days a month for about 5 months.

Aside from the nightmare logistics - it's in London and we live in the South West, DP has agreed to take annual leave and come with us all (DD 2 and DS 5.5 months)

The problem is that DS is exclusively b/f and is showing absolutely zero interest in food.

He is also feeding quite frequently, so it's almost impossible to express.

The course starts in a month, but am thinking that I may to delay until April?

Any ideas?

What about contacting the course people and ask about breaks schedules for the course and if they have a suitable room for you to use (if you want a private feeding space)

Then your DH could bring your baby to you at breaks and lunchtime for nursing as needed.

By that stage, your baby could just about go allday withougt a b/feed. Alternatively, express and store or doas Babies says.

Babies - that is such a great idea!

Moondog - how do you mean that DS could go through the day? Is he physically able (I'm the one who would be mentally unable as I'd worry!)

I know what you mean! I want back when babe 7 mths and after amonth of rushing back to b/feed at lunch, manager told me she could go all day...

and she did! I never gave formula and we carried on for 30 mths.

ilovemydog, best thing you van do is what BE says but alternatively, express while baby is feeding and you should be able to express enough for 1-2 feeds. Then, if you want, you could express at break times while on the course.

Moondog - so, you were able to leave your 7 month old all day without a feed? (am sure though that you fed in the morning and as soon as you got back...)

Was she having any food at the time?

Of course!!!

i'd try and get him interested in food as that will help? have you tried reducing the amount of milk you give him before offering food?
