...and why? Baby is 9 1/2 weeks. I've had probs with blocked ducts & mastitis - also he's not gaining weight v fast. I'd like to try expressing after a feed, and also expressing so Dad can feed him, if I'm away for any reason.

would wholeheartedly recommend Ameda lactaline electric pump. Brilliant. you have to get it on mail order. Google it. Dont' get one at Mothercare or something, this one is more like a hospital grade pump.

ruty · 29/07/2008 18:46

it is not cheap though, around 75 quid.

Lyra75 · 29/07/2008 19:12

another vote for the ameda lactaline pump - if you can afford it is a real investment.

EffiePerine · 29/07/2008 19:21

I liked the Avent Isis (hand pump). Haven't tried the electric ones

can you hire one from your local NCT?

Mummyfor3 · 29/07/2008 19:33

Another vote for Lactaline electric pump. Works well, comfortable, efficient - although does make me feel like Daisy the cow , particularly when double pumping.

Another vote for Lactaline - I expressed every week day for a year with it and it was fab. Can get very reasonably on Ebay

chatname · 31/07/2008 18:09

So should I go for a Lactoline or a Swing, and why? Has anyone tried both, perhaps?

Lactaline is definitely the best. I tried both as I exclusively expressed and the swing was not as good. The lactaline is very portable and did 5/6 times a day for a year then 2/3 times for another 6 months before giving up, so is pretty hard working. Ameda customer service is fantastic too.

Anothe rvote for Ameda lactaline electric pump. It's quick, easy to clean and comfy.
