stress and bf

Things are very stressful at the moment for me as my dad is in intensive care in Ireland. My son does not have a passport
so last week I went for the day to see my dad on my own. I did not bf my son for a day and since then my boobs don't seem so full - though they were bloody painful by the time I got home. Would this have affected my milk supply?

Sorry about your dad - hope things improve. It could have affected your supply, but just keep feeding DS when he needs it and your supply should adjust back accordingly. The more DS needs, the more milk you should make. It may take a day or so but keep at it.

janx - i hope your dad is on teh mend. this must have been/ still is a really tough time for you.

what age is your ds? i have had to spend a few days apart from dd (now 15mths) and wasnt always able to express. like seeline says - i then spent as much time as possible feeding over the next few days when reunited and it seemed to be ok.

when i went back to work - i expressed through teh day but stoppped that. my supply seems to have held up fine.

do not panic about this - you have alot to worry about already. keep ds close by and take as much time as you can to feed - and look after yourself.

My ds is 7 months and I have been feeding him when he needs it. In a way my boobs are more comfortable because they feel less full. I did a bit of hand expressing when I was there because they felt so uncomfortable. I think he is fine really as he has a feed whenever he wants one - I think I am just feeling anxious
