HELP [sad] thrush and cracked nipples!

i am currently bf my 6wk old DS. all was going well until i got cracked nipples and thrush. got treatment 1 wk ago, daktarin for my and nystatin for him. we had a horrid scare on Friday when my DS vommited a large amount of fresh blood! it didn't cross my mind it was from me as there was never any blood in his mouth after feeding. anyway he was checked out and all was well.

so today saw gp for 6 wk check and she refused to give me fluconazole for the thrush. she told me to give him some bottles to give nipples a rest!!...great advice! we gave him a couple on friday after he was in hospital as i was so sore and distressed, of course he then ended up constipated!

i am trying so hard to get damn thrush cleared and treat cracks (they are a bit better) does anyone think that using lansinoh and daktarin is a bad idea or shoud i still use both! worried that lansinoh is causing nice moist environment for thrush!

any advice would be great!

well A LOT has happened since last post!!

had been trying to continue with BF but woke on Sat feeling unwell, so DH ran me a bath as boobs were so full from resting them, when he noticed they were scarlet! my temp was ok but i felt like i had flu. phoned NHS 24 and went to the out of hours service. within an hour my tmep was 39 and i felt awful, was whipped into A+E in terrible pain and nausea. was told that i may have blocked ducts and might need surgery!! very scary stuff (esp being a nurse). had to get morphine pain was so bad. was admitted to breast unit and given intra-venous anti-biotics. thankfully the consultant said it was just a very bad case of mastitis! was in hosptial for three nights. Just awful, but thankfully i was in a single room and my DS could come in. home now on oral anti-biotics, still feeling pretty ropey!

so annoyed that i saw my Gp on the prev wed and told her how sore i still was and i wasn't examined! perhaps if i had been i would never had ended up being so ill!

thankfully thought my DS is a lot more settled, obvioulsy he was just not getting enough from BF.

A warning to others, if meds don't work insist on getting boobs looked at, would hate anyone to go through what i did! :-(
