expressing feeds - is sterilizing important ?

I remember being really surprised when a good friend was told at hospital not to bother sterilizing everything for her premature twins. Is it OK to just put pump, bottles, teats through dishwasher ?

there is a v. long thread here with the OP saying exactly the same thing as your friend.

I expressed for dd for a year at work and never sterilised. hot soapy water and a hot rinse and air dry.
