Why do I get copious hits like:

"baby formula of celebrities"

and

"did Charlotte Church/Myleene Klass breastfeed"

and why is the link to the list of which celebrities breastfed the most-clicked on the site by a rather large percentage?

Yes, some of the celeb breastfeeding hits will be in case I have photos of them with their breasts out [sigh] but not all of them, surely?

Yes but s'leb worship is the new cult in the UK today so makes sense that some people will want to mirror the people that they admire...

Ooh, bit of a hijack here but a friend of a friend's baby was in hospital awaiting diagnosis on a genetic condition and the doctors advised formula feeding as 'baby's blood sugar was low'...my friend and I think this is bullshit and more down to the fact that they want the baby available when they want for tests - not so easy with b'feeding....am so though because I would have thought that breast milk took care of all that - you wouldn't need to formula feed - what do you think?

I think that the medical profession, when a baby is ill, want to be in control. I don't think that necessarily this is a bad thing. When your child is ill, you want doctors to have access to your child!

DS (4 months) had a meningitis scare 6 weeks ago, and they wanted him to be admitted to rule out septacemia and meningitis.

They were happy for me to be on the ward with him, but when he had to be taken away for tests, the nurse said that she would 'ensure he had formula' and I was adamant that I wouldn't leave him, nor was I happy for him to have formula as I was breastfeeding.

In the end, it was all OK. I went with him for his tests.

Am fuming they wanted to interupt your breatfeeding. Glad you stood your ground. What would have happened if you did not have the personality to do so!! there is so much medical evidence supporting breast feeding this is inexcusable

Puss, hard to say without knowing how low, but does sound as thought there's a good chance they wanted the baby available for tests and figured ff would be easier. I know when DS1 went for a kidney scan, they assumed he could have his bottle in the cradle he needed to be in and go off to sleep - I said that might be hard as I was bfing him and since I wasn't allowed near him (twas a radioactive dye scan and I was a few weeks pg), that might be hard! What did your friend do?

Was a friend of a friend so not sure of the final outcome actually.... at hospital for suggesting it when the baby was just days old though...twats
