Medela Mini Electric Breast Pump

Hello I am looking for advice.

I bought a Medela manual pump for my 1st (for very occasional pumping) and found it a bit hard work and slow.

Eventually I was lent a hospital grade double electric pump (Medela again), which was fantastic but obviously very expensive and overpriced for what I plan to do with it- which would be a mini supply in the freezer for emergency use, or relief for the odd missed feed.

I found the mini electric pump by Medela, which is not stupidly priced. Is it any good? I tend to trust their products, but would love to get some recommendations if anyone has used any others that they think might be better.

I really didnt get on with the medela electric breastpump although my sister got on with it fine. I ended up using the manual Avent Isis one and it was brilliant , i had so much frozen breastmilk i could hardly get in the freezer!!

I thought it was wonderful and I didn't get anything out of a manual pump. It's a gamble though as to whether you will get on with it, at the point that I got mine I was desperate and would have spent twice that to get something that worked!

liked mine a lot and worked much better for me than hand avent pump did but seems like its different for everyone

I use Medela Swing. Brilliant.

I had this, a double electric one and an Avent hand one. Did not get a drop with the avent, double fab and quick, medela good but very very noisy! I obvious have very tight valves on my boobs as I never leaked and needed the suction switched up to max at all times! Did the job well, but its noise sometimes meant I needed subtitles on the television.

I hated the medela mini electric. It sounded like a tractor and produced mere drops. A cheapo manual one from Tesco was better but tiring on the wrist!

Well, I've never used any others, though I liked it. Sterny is right though, it does sound like a tractor.

So is the Swing better? It is more expensive and I don't know if it's worth spending that much money for a pump I might not be using that much.

I bought the swing and would say that it's worth the extra as it's much quieter - my husband says it sounds like a frog croaking! - but no probs with talking on the phone or watching tv while pumping so I'm happy with it. The best advice I've had about expressing is to express a few drops by hand before using the pump - it seems to mean that the flow starts much more quickly

Thanks Puddlet I just only noticed your message! I was actually going to post that I was now thinking of getting the Swing anyway.
I spoke to hubby, and as I had so much trouble with BFing the 1st time round he was adamant it would be worth the extra money, he got me convinced.

I'll be ordering it online in the next couple of hours unless I get a scathing review in the meantime!
