Beer + Curry + breastmilk = ???

I live in Tooting, where the best curries in London are to be found. I really fancy one, but is this a bad idea with breastmilk? Will it make him sick/grumpy?

Also - although it's a bit late - 1 beer and breastfeeding, is that ok? (I hope yes, because I'm drinking relishing orgasmically a Belgian beer right now... .)

I won't mix the two, though!

Go for it, Indian mothers manage fine.

God, have what you want.
Breastfeeding fits into your life, not vice versa.

cmotdibbler · 06/07/2008 20:18

Beer and curry no prob at all - enjoy ! If you search the archive, you'll see that drinking sensibly whilst breastfeeding isn't considered to be a problem

I'm breastfeeding and am drinking and eating what I always did. Wine & curries included. 9 months down the line and she has no complaints

WilfSell · 06/07/2008 20:22

= a damn good night in, imho.

will almost certainly make no difference to your milk

bruxeur · 06/07/2008 20:22

According to my mother, all it results in is a series of weapons-grade nappies-ful, in some quite startling colours.

Bless her. That was normally an opening gambit for any new girlfriend brought back to meet the parents.

bruxeur · 06/07/2008 20:24

Ooh Tooting. Go for the Radha Krishna, to break your LO in gently, then proceed north to the Lahore Karahi.

[is jealous]

Excellent advice everyone, including the restaurant suggestions LOL!

Curry tomorrow, halleluiah!

There was a thread just yesterday about drinking whilst nursing, I posted some links to the archives on it about how breastmilk and alcohol works if you click the top of this topic where it says breast and bottle feeding you'll see the threads from the last few days.

On my first night back from the hospital after giving birth and after having rancid heartburn for most of my pregnancy andnot being able to tolerate any alcohol or even a pinch of anything more than pepper, I troughed out on 2 cans of stella (was gagging for stella - not champagne to celebrate?! weird!) and a curry. Was lush. No heartburn, even better - and the baby who was 3 days old by now didnt blink at having any different flavours. All was fine.

gybegirl · 06/07/2008 21:03

Enjoy your curry and beer!!!
I'm sat here with a very nice Holsten alcohol free beer in my hand (Cobra ones are the best). I've been drinking them becuase of on call work and then pregnancies and then babies for the last four years. I don't drink the other ones now as they taste too hopy. I'm definitely not suggesting that an odd beer or glass of wine is a problem in any way - but just to let you know some of the non-alc ones taste nice.

Essie3 · 06/07/2008 21:30

Good point, gybegirl - it's partly the taste which I'm after. Had no idea that Cobra do them. I did have a lovely one in Belgium at Easter (preg!), but the waiter looked at me as if I was a freak...
