i have a 12 week old baby boy and in a weeks time i am going to start working one night a week in a local nursing home. Anyway i am breastfeeding and want to continue doing so, i have given him expressed breastmilk from 2 weeks of age. he has one bottle of an eveining that his dad gives him. So expressing and giving a bottle are not a problem, what i am concerned about is messing up my milk supply on the nights that i work as i will not be giving the usual 3 to 4 feeds that he usually has. Do i express while at work or wait untill i get home in the morning to express as i will be really full, thankyou for your advice in advance

I would have thought that you'd need to express while at work to keep your supply up as your lo is so small. How long will you be away from him? Can you take your pump and store your milk at work? I'm not sure of the current UK law on this.

I would take the pump to work and try to express once if you have the time or discomfort! Then pump again in the morning when you get home.

IME doing things different one day (or night) per week won't interfere with your supply it's only when you start doing things several days in a row or most of the time IYSWIM

Ah - sorry, didn't see you were only going back one night a week (18 mo jumping on head)

What CarGirl said.
