because I hope other people would find it as useful as I did

'Mothering Your Nursing Toddler' - it's a La Leche League book and is very positive, inspiring and reassuring about all the benefits and difficulties of breastfeeding an older child

Please CAT me if you would like to borrow it next.

MN has a way of drawing one back in which is both good and bad...

Olihan · 30/06/2008 19:39

Of course I will, no problem.

(Moondog, I have you to thank for the fact that I am still feeding ds2 at 18mo. You helped me through several wobbles in the early weeks but 'your body was clever enough to make this baby, it's certainly clever enough to feed it' became my mantra and it's so true, so many, many, many thanks, from me and ds2. )

moondog · 30/06/2008 19:41

Oh that's so wonderful!!
I am delighted for you.
You did the work though so all credit is due to you.
It's such a shame though isn't it that we are conditioned into not trusting our bodies?

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 19:41

I have asked F&Z but will also scrounge ask on this thread. Does anyone have a copy of Adventures In Tandem Nursing that they could lend me? Apparently my library can't get it () and I don't know enough breastfeeding weirdoes mothers round here who would have it!

I would be very careful with it - promise!

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/06/2008 19:49

Are you expecting another then Urban, or is it just for interest?

theSuburbanDryad · 30/06/2008 19:52

Due in Feb CSWS!

Olihan · 30/06/2008 19:52

I couldn't get past 4wks with ds1 and dd -slow weight gainers, guess what HV suggested and inevitable result.... and of course, complete loss of confidence in my body, so it's all the more of a triumph for me to have done it this time. I finally feel complete as a mother (that sounds cheesy, sorry) but bfing was the only thing I hadn't succeeded at. So really, thank you, thank you, thank you.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/06/2008 19:54

Oh congratulations - I didn't know!
Feb is a great time to have a baby .

SuburbanDryad, do you have a LLL meeting near you? They might have the book available to lend

Notanexcitingname · 30/06/2008 20:33

Moondog, that's a fab phrase-I shall remember it

I Another fan of motehring your nursing toddler, here, even though I don't intend to feed indefinitely. maybe it's because I do subscribe to the ideal?

FrannyandZooey · 30/06/2008 21:09

Olihan, SuburbanDryad would like the book after you, please - is it alright to leave it to you two to sort that out between you? and let me have it back again in a few months?

Yeah - no worried Franny

No LLL group near me - the nearest one is in Luton and I have no idea whereabouts it is. I suppose I could go back to my old group in Northampton and ask them if i could borrow it but i feels a bit cheeky - plus they meet on a Friday when i work. Glum. I could always buy it!

fishie · 30/06/2008 22:28

f&z would you say that the 'mothering your nursing toddler' or 'when weaning happens' is of more use? ds is 3.3 and i don't want to stop bf prematurely but cannot allow 5am demands. work almost f/t (90%) so his opps are a bit limited.

amazon reviews of 'mothering' are not that good, they are all talking about extended bf as past 12 months and there is a neg one saying it is geared to sahm.

Olihan · 30/06/2008 22:28

Fine by me too, shall I CAT you when I've finished it, TSD?

BabiesEverywhere · 01/07/2008 08:21

theSuburbanDryad, I can lend you the Tandem nursing book, but I can't post it until payday....cat me.

theSuburbanDryad · 01/07/2008 08:26

Oli - yes that'd be great thanks
