Hi My son is 7 weeks old and cries to be fed (bottle) every 2 hours but extremely windy and burps really badly. Has a few ounces and then constantly crys and arches his back and looks really distressed. Also has always had green poos. Gp says that is could be colic but not bring knees up or acid refulx and prescribed gaviscon which is not helping. Have tried colic drops and dr brown bottles and nothing seems to be doing any good. Gp also said that it could just be his personality!!! I am a second time mum and my husband and I are really at a loss as to what to do and are not coping well at all. Has anyone else had a similar problem?? and have been frantically searching the internet and was wondering if he may have lactose intolerance and the symptoms seem to be similar can anyone help???

My ds had colic and reflux. He couldn't seem to burp and that's why I think he was in so much pain. I found dr brown bottles worked brilliantly.
Is he being very sick? Ds was sick constantly for 8 months because of reflux.
A friend of mine, when she wanted to stop bf, she weaned dd off the breast and onto a bottle but her dd wouldn't take the formula, my friend felt that she shouldn't push it so she continued to bf and then found out her dd has a ton of allergies.
What is your gut instinct? Do you think he's got an intolerance? If you do, he probably has. Go with your feelings

sounds like my DS who had silent reflux

no vomiting but lots of writhing in pain and horrible feeding times

the infant gaviscon did nothing at all - he ended up on ranitadine and domperidone (one is an antacid and the domperidone helps the milk move through the gut more quickly)

after a week or so of these meds he was like a different baby

acid reflux is painful - it is like heartburn so that is why they back arch and writhe a lot

thanks for your replys. been to see gp yesterday who has made a referral to a paediatrician but there is over 1 months waiting time for an appointment. so we will just have to struggle on.

Mummy12 sounds like my DS too. He has been very unsettled and sick and cried mostly all the time, tried gaviscon which didn't do anything. Then were put on Ranitidine. Things did improve, he does seem to be more content (still very sick though).

Had an appointment with paediatrician about his sickness and was told that it is reflux and as long as he is not in pain nothing we can do. Just have to wait until he grows out of it.

Re: Ranitidine, you can get prescribtion from you gp and get him on it asap. Good Luck.

A friend has recommended that I try Actimel - has anyone else ever heard of this as a helper to colic in the evenings?
