Night feed options, Perfect Prep or Rapid Cool?

I am expecting DC2, with DC1 several years ago we used a Perfect Prep machine and to all intents and purposes we were very happy with it, made feeds very quick and easy especially through the night. After a while we suspected DD had reflux so switched to a Rapid Cool for the majority of feeds as well as anti reflux formula, but we continued to use the prep machine through the night as the rapid cool took 3 hours to reset and she sometimes needed feeding more regularly than that.

I had been planning on just getting a rapid cool again this time around as I’ve seen prep machines getting a lot of flack on social media, and to be honest I have no idea whether there was any correlation between our prep machine and DD’s reflux. My issue once again is that I don’t know whether the rapid cool will be sufficient for regular night feeds especially during the newborn phase.

Apart from getting two separate rapid cools; does anyone have any suggestions?

We buy ready to feed bottles, keep a mini fridge upstairs for excess and warm it up in a bottle warmer. They drop night feeds very quickly so isn’t too expensive x

Yes 2 rapid cools or you can buy the ready-to-drink stuff albeit it’s expensive. But might be useful if you think it’s only going to be occasional that they’ll need a feed before the rapid cools has reset rather then all the time.

out of interest what flack has the prep machine been getting? We use one and baby is very sicky but I haven’t seen any criticism of the machine itself so would be super interested to hear? Thanks

we have rapid cools. But I've found it's just as effective to use a bowl of water kept in the fridge. I've an ice pack too. The Aldi formula we used when eldest came off the anti reflux formula was usually bubble free.

Thank you for your suggestions everyone, I may invest in a second rapid cool but potentially keep a stock of the ready to drink formula bottles too.

@wanderingwillows I had read a few reviews of them saying that the hot shot method wasn’t hot enough to kill the bacteria in the formula, and people were testing the temperatures and sending them back to Tommy Tippee. Apparently they replaced them if there’s a genuine fault though.

I have to say when DD1 was struggling with reflux and I saw our GP, I mentioned the prep machine and asked if we should get rid of it, I remember them not being particularly interested and just telling me she would grow out of it… which she did eventually! But wasn’t helpful at all at the time. It’s tricky to know what to do for the best!
