How many tubs of formula does a newborn usually need weekly?

I'm planning on bottle feeding when the baby is born as I will be having a C-section I want to be fully prepared. How many tubs of formula will I need per week?

I’d only buy maybe 2 or 3 for now in case the formula doesn’t agree with baby. They may, but hopefully won’t, have CMPA or reflux. Once you’re happy that baby is settled on the formula you have chosen, you could order it in bulk online via Boots. They always have a huge stock and saves being let down in your weekly food shop - we’ve had this many times from Sainsbury’s and Tesco deliveries.

Also if you’re having a c section, I assume you will be in hospital for a few days. Please ensure you bring plenty of pre made formula for your hospital stint. I ended up in for 3 nights so the one box of pre made was not enough. Babies dad had to do an emergency dash for a few packs of the larger pre made bottles and go home to get our actual bottles so baby could drink from them (larger pre made bottles do not have teats). I’d also advise to bring microwave sterilisation bags to the hospital as you do need to wash and sterilise your own bottles. The hospital should store the pre made formula in the fridge for 24hr once open as you can split them over a few feeds, if you’re using your own bottles.

Totally agree on not over buying before LO arrives and that applies to things like nappies as well. What suits some babies really doesn’t suit others and around 1 in 10 babies do suffer with CMPA.

Do not stock up. It’s expensive, can’t take it back, and you might not get on with the first one!
