Sterilising medela electric breast pump - all of it?

I assume I need to sterilise after every use. The bit I have a problem with is the small yellow bit which has a sort of flat white rubbery bit attached (it goes in the bottle - maybe like a filter or something). Does that go in the steriliser too?

Don't worry, not about to put the electrics in!

Yes, take it off and sterilise it too. It's the valve, dontcha know.

You may joke about the electronics. I seriously wondered (PFB)

Hi Essie, just to add (as I didn't realize for a while) but the white rubber valve pops off the yellow bit. So if you take it apart, clean then sterilize then put it back together, otherwise milk can gather up around it.

Tis alway good to ask Essie

Have you used a Medela before, They are ace imo, the best breast pump I ever used.

TheProvincialLady · 26/06/2008 18:30

If it's the medela mini electric then it will also be the noisiest

Essie3 · 26/06/2008 18:34

I used it last night - horribly noisy, but god the relief!

I'm the OP on 'too much milk'...

Essie, I started with the mini electric, I also found that it helped DD to fall asleep but then progressed on to the swing. Which is excellent and not at all noisy.
