Seven month baby - I seem to be feeding him all day!!

Ds is 7 and a half months, well onto solids now, and eats 3 meals a day quite happily. I am a bit confused tho about to what extent BF sould be scaled back and when. At the mo he has 4 BFs a day, early, mid morning, mid pm and bedtime. Having 3 meals as well to squeeze in (I stagger BF and food) means he is feeding in some shape or form every 2 or so hours. Seems a lot. But he wont drink water at the mo so BM is his main drink too. I've had a look around and advice seems hugely variable, from advising BF twice a day on one website, to a minimum of 5 times a day at this age on another site. I dont want to be feeding him just because the clock says so, he doesnt ever seem hungry anymore so I have lost my cues! Any advice or pointers to info would be great. Thanks.

doesn't sound too much to me. my 6.5mo is having 1 meal, well 2 from yesterday, and about 10 breast feeds (inc the 2 in the night). I'm returning to work part time next month and am expecting him to be feeding more than 4 times a day at 7 months. I'm sure someone else could help more, sorry.

agree about the cues though, same here, so i am trying to feed him sometimes when he isn't interested.

sounds similar to my ds (8mo) - he's on 3 meals a day and bfs first thing in the morning, midday, 5pmish, bedtime and then once in the night. he has dropped 3 bfs himself in the 2 months since he started on solids, inc one night feed, so i'm trying to leave him to go at his own pace. your ds sounds as though he's taking what he needs (especially if he's not having water) so i wouldn't have thought there's any need for you to scale it back just now.
but yes, it does seem as though they spend all day eating!

Thanks for both the replies...sounds like I've got off lightly, both your DCs are feeding a lot more than mine!! And yes CB, my DS has dropped 3 feeds since solids began too, but I agree with you, it does still feel like he spends all day feeding! Still, sounds like thats just the way it is so I'll try to go with the flow...
