I had a really bad migraine on sat and am still feeling pretty rubbish. I've been bf dd for nearly 4 months, i'm going to docs later - just wondered if anyone else had experienced similar. i was wondering if it could be a hormone thing?

Could be hormonal, or might be due to dips in your blood sugar levels. Make sure you don't go for long times without eating. Consider the possibility of dividing your meals into several smaller ones, evenly spaced out over the day. A non-pregnant friend found this worked for preventing her migraines. Obviously you are using your own food intake to make milk, and if your baby suddenly starts taking more due to growth spurts, it may just be the trigger caused by the reduced blood sugar levels. Obviously I'm not a doctor and you are right to get yourself checked out.

I have migraines too but I think it is to do with my returning peripds rather than me breastfeeding.
Have your periods returned?
Sympathies - trying to deal with a baby and a migraine is just hellish.
