Formula-fed baby with soft but shaped bowel movements?

Just wondering if anybody's formula fed baby had any bowel movements that had a proper shape? My baby's last couple of poos have been a sausage shape but still soft. The GP and health visitor didn't offer much helpful advice so wondering if anybody knows. I can't find a single thing online so it's baffling me! All I know is they shopping really have a shape until she starts solids. No idea why they have a shape? 😅

Hey there (lactation consultant here),
yup they can be thicker/pastier than breastmilk only poops!

if you’re combi feeding they can vary depending on which they’ve had more of! x

Key thing is that baby was comfortable/unbothered when passing it!

She's just formula fed! Do you mind if I post a picture?

unsure if Mumsnet would allow that!
But as I said, I’d be thinking about how baby was in themselves rather than how the poop looks + without knowing full hx (eg baby’s age/if they’ve always been formula fed/any other health issues etc) a pic of the poop wouldn’t tell me much.

if your HV team has a duty line it’d be worth calling so you could discuss it fully with them, or seek out local feeding support - most IBCLC’s work privately but offer a range of options for support & would be happy for you to reach out to them & while predominantly support breastfeeding, we know about & support formula feeding as well x
