Still getting nipple discharge nearly three years after stopping breastfeeding

Hiya,

I gave birth to my son in July 2023.

I breastfed for 3-5 days but my supply wasn’t great.

Almost 3 years later and I still get drops of “milk” (clear sometimes a little cloudy) from one nipple.

Ive no lumps or pain, no changes in my breasts.

is this normal? Has anyone else had similar?

I'd get that checked by a gp. Any breast changes or abnormalities should be investigated.

Definitely get it checked. I can still get milk from mine 6 years later but I fed for 3 years

I would go get that checked, I breastfed for other a year and I never had discharge even when I gave up x

These things should always be checked.

I have breastfed several children and dried up properly between children. But after the last one, which I fed for the longest, it was several years before I stopped occasionally oozing drops. Then I suddenly started excreting a thin ‘worm’ of white stuff from my right breast from time to time after a hot shower. So I went to the GP and was referred on the 2ww. At the Breast Clinic they checked everything and it was all fine. They explained to me that sometimes your body seems to forget that it is no longer breastfeeding. So my right breast was making a tiny amount of milk which just sat there until the heat of the shower and the roughness of my towel stimulated the breast to excrete it. Which was why it was thick. I should just leave it alone and eventually my breast would stop making milk.

They said I was right to get it checked and they were very happy to do so. If it stopped and then started again I should return to the GP for another referral. I don’t really remember when it stopped completely.
