Reflux/gas?

Hi all,

I have an almost 4 week old who is combination fed and up until about week ago woke twice in the night and after feeding would go back down to sleep very easily.

Recently though baby seems very uncomfortable when put back down in crib and grunts and snorts and pulls legs up and arches back etc (no crying just seems and looks in discomfort) so I’ve assumed gas and tried endlessly to burp but without much luck. Usually baby burps very easily during the day.

Eventually, baby has settled and gone back to sleep after 10-15 mins or so. Last night things were different and it took over an hour to settle baby after feeding and baby was also more upset and crying in (what I assume was) discomfort.

Baby has also started being a bit more sicky during the daytime. Not projectile, just little bits of milk here and there but enough to warrant a few outfit changes during the day and something that wasn’t happening a week or so ago.

Is this all normal due to developing digestion? Does this sound like wind, reflux etc? Would you see a GP and would infant gaviscon or anything else be worth trying?

My first had reflux but this was years ago and I don’t really remeber the details but I know we changed his formula to anti reflux and had anti reflux bottles but I don’t remember them really making any difference and my poor baby smelt pukey all the time! I’m really hoping not be going down the same road with this one!

Thanks!

Have you tried adding Dentinox to the bottles? And are you using anti-colic bottles and have feeding?

You have my sympathy, havibg an unsettled baby is torture Flowers

Sounds pretty normal but go to the GP if you are concerned. Maybe try something like infacol. My youngest was like this but epic amounts of sick came out constantly. She was otherwise healthy and grew out of it eventually (around 18 months). Nearly broke me, but she was fine!!

Try Colief - helped my one a lot.
