Does anyone know if anyone makes a wide necked bottle that has a travel lid that screws on to the top of the bottle so its like a jar but lid doesnt have a hole in the middle where the teat goes....does that make sense?

OR (ta-dah!) you could simply SUPERGLUE the sealing disk into place. problem solved. bingo stingo!

Sawyer64 · 17/06/2008 21:37

How about this here

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 21:38

Arr thats a thought, when using the sealing disc dont you need a teat to seal it?

No not at all.

You put your water in your bottle.

The sealing disk in the screwy bit (instead of teat). And then stick it in your bag. There is no reason why you can't put the clear plastic dome cap on top and then use it as your dish.

If the normal ones are too deep the ones which come with teh magic cups are shallower and I think they still fit on anorma bottle.

Tesco do 3 small tupperware type pots for 79p in their value range. Usually found near the Kitchen utensils hidden away on a top shelf/end of Aisle. I used them for DD when weaning so I could freeze little meals, I have about 30! They are 3" diameter, you could put 2 or 3 with water (or doggie snacks) in your bag and just pop the lid off when they need a drink. I still have mine and use them for all sorts of things. Or carry the 3 empty with a sprite bottle with the water in?

I always have one full of dried fruit or rice cakes in my handbag - very handy. Would make good pill boxes as well.

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 21:41

Not sure about the super glue
Sawyer been offered that suggestion but girls would be too scared as bottle would be too in their face.

Sawyer64 · 17/06/2008 21:46

you have your answer, sullysmom. what is the nature of your objection to silicone sealant? it would not be in contact with the water.

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 21:55

Dont like the idea of drinking from something glued/sealant.

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 21:56

TBH I agree with Yurt. I think it would be adequately sealed without.

AitchTwoCiao · 17/06/2008 21:57

but it wouldn't be in contact if you did it properly...

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 22:01

Slightlymadsweet, havent seen a disc since i had babies many years ago, they were just a disc of plastic, are they rubberised now can you describe?

OP posts:
SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 22:03

Just going by your thread title/post that explans what you want.

I am assuming (forgive me if I am overstepping hte mark here) that the bottles that you may have used with your children had flimsy/thin seals that you put in with the teat.

The avent ones are not like that at all. They are thick. They snap into place very well - even off the bottle. And I think they will be more than adequate for you needs....and yurt has demostrated this in her living room lab

SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 22:04

X posts.

they don't just sit on hte hole. You actually push them into the hole. They click into place.

I don't think I have any any more or I would send you them without you having to spend money.

Yurtgirl · 17/06/2008 22:05

Sully - honestly there is no need for glue, mine has been sitting there for ages now and still isnt leaking. They snap in really tightly but also easy enough to remnove for washing

And the disk is rubbery so the little doggy dish will not slide about as he has a drink

To complete my scientific experiment I have measured how much water the lid will hold - full up to overflowing is more than 2oz - ooh get me!!

HTH

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 22:11

Thanks Slightly and Yurt, they sound very different and better than the older days ones which were just a skinny plastic circle that slid all over the place. And the amount it holds sounds great, looks like the answer. Are they just called avent baby bottles ?

It is quite a solid/firm rubber....

I am trying to think of a household item to compare the material too. But I can't.

It is flexible so you could bend it a bit...but it is too rigid to bend in half.

Yurt, what are you like ya loon

Thank you sullysmum for explaining your problem.

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 22:14

Thankyou ladies for your help!

You will need to buy a baby bottle (4oz are the smallest). I would buy avent as they will definately fit the avent disks.

You will need to buy the "sealing disks" seperately there are some on ebay.

or this is everything you want
