Does anyone know if anyone makes a wide necked bottle that has a travel lid that screws on to the top of the bottle so its like a jar but lid doesnt have a hole in the middle where the teat goes....does that make sense?

BroccoliSpears · 17/06/2008 19:51

BoysAreLikeDogs · 17/06/2008 19:52

Me too, tell us, pleeeeease

littlepinkpixie · 17/06/2008 20:04

The Avent via containers come with a screw on lid.

SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 20:07

Avent via containers?

They are multipurpose pots for expressed milk/solids...

tell us what you want it for and I am confident someone will find something to fulfil your needs...

Alright then, ill be 'berry brave' and make a fool of myself
............I have three older chihuahuas, one bigger girl at 8lbs and two tiny ones at 3 and 1/2lbs each, the eldest one has heart problems, the next oldest is a rescue and had to have 15 teeth out so her tongue hangs out all the time and another little one. When my husband and i take them out all together to vets etc they go in a old ladies shopping trolley( all three on a cushion) or one big girl alone or the two little ones together in a carrier on wheels. My husband is elderly and we dont have transport, so its quite a lot to carry everything for us and them and get on an older style bus with steps etc.I have a bag which i put hubbys tablets in and he has funny blood sugar so i need to take him something to eat and drink, plus wet wipes, poo bags etc etc just like taking kids out.I wanted a not too big container to put their water in that wouldnt take up much space that they could also drink out of the cap/lid which is why i wanted a wider style bottle and deep lid that could act as a dish as they only have small mouths, didnt think a sealing disc would be water tight which is why i wanted an all in one lid that screwed on the bottle.Im gonna hide now!

Oh that's sweet! What a about a child's small flask with cup on top?

SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 20:52

God don't hide.

There is nothing to be ashamed of there.

Now we know we can help...well I am sure someone can. I can't think of anything off the top of my head but I am sure someone will.

How deep does the "dish" component need to be?

Yurtgirl · 17/06/2008 20:57

Sullysmum - I think the sealing disks are watertight, otherwise they would leak when screwed onto the bottles

I liked mine so much I have kept two 4oz bottles with sealing disks and screwtops for our picnic bag, never used as yet! One day!

BroccoliSpears · 17/06/2008 21:03

But surely they're made watertight by being screwed onto the bottle? They wouldn't still be watertight as a dish.

Sainsburys own fresh soups come in a container that might work. Quite a sturdy plastic jar with a screw lid. Poss a bit big overall though.

Yurtgirl · 17/06/2008 21:05

I am going to get mine now and experiment............

SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 21:06

The avent via lids are about 5-7mm deep. Not sure if this is deep enoug to be your "dish".

AitchTwoCiao · 17/06/2008 21:06

hhhmmmmm. there must be something that woudl fit the bill. can't think what, though.

Yurtgirl · 17/06/2008 21:08

Ok so I now have an avent lid with sealing disk sitting beside me......

With water in it

And it isnt leaking at all

I even put it on some kitchen towel to prove it isnt leaking!

AitchTwoCiao · 17/06/2008 21:09

yes, but if a chihuaha started licking it and the disc moved... i despair of your experiment, yurty. come on, make like a doggie and lap.

SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 21:12

visions of nappies on sofa's coming back to haunt me.....

AitchTwoCiao · 17/06/2008 21:14

lol sms. it's all in the name of Science.

Yurtgirl · 17/06/2008 21:16

I beg to differ
The disks are rubbery so do not move about

AitchTwoCiao · 17/06/2008 21:16

and you have verified this how?

SlightlyMadSweet · 17/06/2008 21:18

Actually I think I am with Yurtgirl.

The disks do actually snap into place.

Dotsie · 17/06/2008 21:19

what about one of these?

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 21:19

Thanks everyone for not jumping down my throat, i was a bit nervous.I looked at kids flasks and they are bit too big and chunky thats why i thought of the babies bottles.

OP posts:
AitchTwoCiao · 17/06/2008 21:22

that labrador looks happy enough with dotsie's suggestion.

and at £3.99. if that was a product for kids they'd have that priced at a tenner for sure.

sullysmum · 17/06/2008 21:28

slightlymadsweet, i think about an 3/4 inch deep would be nice or bigger.
Dotsie, ive seen those my girls but my girls would be scared of the dish and the bottle that close to their faces.I have used a sprite bottle and used the lid but Rosies tongue has a mind of its own and its not big enough for her little tongue to lap.

Could she drink from teh cap of a proper pottle (i.e. the bit that normally covers the teat)?

If she could you could use the sealing disks to seal the water in and use the cap for her to drink out of.
