4wk old BF baby poo smells eggy

Is this normal?
It’s got an eggy smell to it.
Not sure whether to contact HV

Could be the start of a little tummy bug, but as long as they are feeding and weeing normally you just carry on as you are really. Is the texture different? Can go sort of stringy with a tummy bug.

Are there any other symptoms? Colic, crying, wind, reflux/vomiting,green poo, mucus in poo?

Poo is normal, he is very windy!!!!!

In 20 years of breastfeeding support I’ve not found breastfed babies to have eggy farts. They tend to smell slightly sweet if anything.

It’s also very unusual for an exclusively breastfed 4 week old to get a tummy bug (as usethedata is suggesting) so I doubt it’s this either.

@Kate3150 I think you should mention it to your GP or HV.

It’s definitely improved, smells quite soury now but will keep an eye on it.
The colour and texture are spot on, he’s feeding plenty and nappies are always full.
Will contact HV next week if it persists x
