CMPA?

Hi

I EBF my daughter since birth who is now 4 month old.
She was really fussy up to about 6 weeks and had bad baby acne so I decided to cut dairy out, the fussiness subsided and acne went so I assumed she was intolerant.

I have had the odd thing with dairy in since and I’m not sure if I imagined the symptoms coming back again or not so went back dairy free straight away, I didn’t want to contaminate my breastmilk too much I suppose.

As they can’t do allergy tests for non ige CMPA I want to test another way to know 100% that she’s intolerant so am tempted to give her some normal formula and see if symptoms flare up and clearly confirm.
Has anyone done this?

I obviously don’t want to cause my daughter any discomfort, but I also don’t want to have to give her hypo allergic formula if she doesn’t actually need it.

Thanks

I'd wait until she's 6 months and starts weaning before you try it. Same as with any allergen. I know it must be a pain being dairy free but I'd let her stomach get stronger first before testing it
Just to add, my little one has CMPA and was on soya formula from 3 weeks because of the obvious pain and wind from the milk. You say she was extremely fussy before you cut dairy so it seems she most likely does have it

Are you wanting to stop BFing @LJAM2025?

@SleafordSods I don’t particularly enjoy it as she isn’t the best feeder… I think if she had no problem with formula I probs would be combi feeding. But if she can’t have normal formula I will probably keep BFing as I would like to stay away from neocate etc if possible as I have read they bring their own issues…
