7 month old severe wind

Hello everyone ,

7.5 month old struggling with severe wind . Has always been windy but recently this has worsened. Windy in the day but generally manageable but night time is so so bad. Nothing is helping at all. Baby is waking inconsolable and I can't get the wind at all.

I try bicycle legs , feeding her ( seems to help her push the wind out but not always and doesn't get all the wind ) , Infacol , freda baby windi ( doesn't help ) and dummy but baby still screams. I am so so tired , I am up constantly in the night.

I burp her frequently during feeds and she is able to roll and is trying to crawl but even this doesn't not help with then wind. She doesn't move at all when she's asleep which is frustrating as I think that would help.

Wind started before weaning but more then likely worse now that she is being weaned.

I am so desperate, is there anything else I can try ? 😥😥

On the verge of taking her to the G.P for it as baby and me are just no coping with it . Only thing stopping me is well, what can they actually do 😞

Thanks for reading and replies would be appreciated

Have you tried probiotics? I started giving my DD 7.5 months Optibac drops around three weeks ago because was suffering with trapped wind, particularly at night. They seem to have made a difference and calmed the things down. Might be worth a try?

Thank you for your reply. I have had a look and definitely worth a try. I just don't think I can afford the £15 pound price tag though consistently if it helps 😕 I will have a look for alternatives

Probiotics are definitely worth a try.

Do you want to give us a few more details such as if she’s BF or FF and if it’s the later, which milk she’s on?

How often are you offering solids?

And has she got any of these symptoms?

Marsh212 · 17/01/2026 09:25

Hi @SleafordSodsthanks so much for you reply . She is FF and has been since 12 weeks . Suffered horrendously with wind from birth, I thought it was her latch when BF . I had her assessed by a tongue tie specialist at 9 weeks old but not TT identified. To be honest her wind seemed to settle to be more manageable but the last month probably it's been quite bad.

She has 6 ounce of HIPP formula every 3/4 hours and bits of finger food and some purees once or twice a day but I can't get her to sit in her high chair because she is uncomfortable with wind 😞 she also started with excema at 5 months old before weaning and this is settling as I don't use fabric conditioner anymore with the washing.

I did wonder is she CMPA but she used to sleep through until 3 months but now I'm lucky if she only wakes up 3 times . Yesterday's wind was not good at all , I tried her on some yoghurt , only a tablespoon but maybe that upset her .

I would be looking at food intolerance, especially dairy.

Marsh212 · 17/01/2026 10:03

@BlueuggbootsThankyou. I had crossed my mind 😕

My son had a dairy allergy as a baby. Lots of wind, very unsettled. I moved him into soya milk at 9 months and it was loads better. Even now, aged 15, if he eats a lot of dairy, we all suffer the consequences!! 💨💨💨🤢🤢

So trying her on colief as the shops didn't have any probiotics . Day 3 and the wind has definitely improved and baby is more settled. No idea if this confirms a possible cmpa or lactose issue !? Fully were that evidence base for this stuff is pretty much non existent but it's definitely helping 🤷🤷🤷
