Weaning off breast to cows milk

My 11mo is exclusively breast fed and always rejected the bottle - we have him using a straw cup for water currently but does not drink loads, maybe a couple of sips.

We have started introducing cows milk in his straw cup so that we can move away from breastfeeding but he does not seem to enjoy cows milk - what tips do people have to increase his milk consumption from the straw cup?

Warm it more, so it’s actually very warm not just tepid. It’s much sweeter , more similarity to bm, Worth a try. I would also leave some in a normal ‘adult’ cup in his view but pretend it’s yours and he’s not allowed it, he will
make it his life’s work to get it and neck it !

Mine never liked cow's milk. We started it from 12m but they just didn't drink it. We just gave them water and made sure they had lots of cheese and plain yoghurt.

my son is also exclusively breastfed and he’s almost 13months. I’m trying to stop bf and given him whole milk a couple times but he doesn’t really seem to like it even warmed up. He’s also never liked a bottle but has water in a beaker with a straw

Cow's milk isn't a replacement for breast milk.
If your aim is to give him calcium then yoghurt, cheese etc are just as good.

If your aim is to hydrate him water is fine, also watery foods like cucumber, soup (low salt) etc.

Breast milk feeds your child when they're young because it's tailor-made for your baby... cow's milk is just milk!

Neither of mine would touch Cow’s Milk until BFing had completely stopped. Dont let the rejection of Cow’s milk put you off of you want to wean.

How often do they BF now and are they night weaned?

As it’s on demand it can be between 4-5 times a day. He’s not sleeping through the night yet either still wakes about 2-3 times for a feed

I think if you’re wanting to stop BFing completely I would try diverting him from at least one feed during the day.

Do you feed first thing? If you do can you or your DP/DH take him straight down for breakfast and a cup of milk instead?
