Breastfeeding but 1 bottle formula a day

I’ve been breastfeeding for 10 days. Appear to have a lot of milk etc.

My nipples were so painful and baby was waking up to feed constantly in the night, so we gave her a bottle of formula last night to save my boobs. She slept for 4 hours whereas she’s normally waking every hour or 2 to feed.

Google tells me it can affect milk supply. Has anyone fed 1 formula a day and it affected their milk supply? Just trying to work out if it’s worth doing the one bottle a day or not.

Yes I gave my baby one bottle a day for a period.

It does impact your milk supply but only in as far as you are making enough for one feed less. I still had enough for the other feeds.

It sounds like a good pragmatic solution to me.

I did this with my first, he had a bottle at bedtime and whilst it didn't necessarily help him sleep better it did ease the pressure on me. What I found was that my supply adapted so that I just didn't have the supply he needed at the time he always had the bottle, if that makes sense.
