How long were you without periods while breastfeeding?

Hi. My lovely DS is 16months and i'm breastfeeding on demand - probably 3 proper feeds and 2/3 snacky feeds each day. I keep expecting to get a period, and although im not looking forward to it - always had bad pains and its a bit of a faff - im now getting a little anxious that they have gone for good. I'd like more children, but im 33 - not over the hill but not a lot of time to hang about - so i need them to return!

So - how about you? Has anyone been longer that 16mo without a period then gone on to have more children? Should i just enjoy not having to bother about them and chill ?

I suppose my question is, after much rambling late at night - AM I NORMAL???

mine returned about 12 months after I stopped breastfeeding. Everyone is different I have a friend who always gets her periods back 4 weeks after giving birth even though she breastfeeds.

9 weeks

but it did co-incide wth her sleeping for 8 hours at night and missing a couple of night feeds, so you win some, you lose some

I win!!!!! 30 months before periods returned (it was quite a snacky child)

Mine have just come back! Boooooo.. Although happy too as it means that the next dc will start to be possible (if I can just get over the birth thing that is!)DD is just under 7 mths old. Exclusively bf but started adding solids into the diet, so I guess boob milk being taken at each feed has gone down. Regardless, I had forgotten how horrible it all is! Damn those hormones!
