Mums who gave their reflux babies Gaviscon, what were your experiences and how long did you use the Gaviscon?

It worked really well for us. We still had a lot of spit up, but the screaming and Exorcist style vomiting stopped. A day without it and everything would start coming back up. As a newborn the reflux was so bad he lost a lot of weight, so keeping food in was the main objective - I didn't mind clothing changes.

We used it until he was walking, when the reflux finally stopped.

My daughter has been on infant gaviscon since she was 6 weeks and is now 5y3m! She was a screamy silent refluxer

When she was a baby it made her constipated, we tried to find an amount that would help her reflux but didn't cause constipation. In the ended she went on to lactulose at the same time which helped the constipation. Her reflux has proved to be tricky to treat and she ended up on high dose omperazole, gaviscon and domperidone. It's only in the last 6 months we have been able to reduce her meds.

I have a 12 week old who is mostly a happy spitter but occasionally has an evening where it does bother him. We use one sachet of gaviscon 1-3 times a week on the evenings that he's finding the reflux upsetting. So far no impact on stools
