Feeding patterns changing at 10.5 months - what's going on?

At the moment I'm feeding my ds about 5 times a day - early morning, mid morning, mid afternoon, bedtime and usually a night feed. He is eating plenty at mealtimes but just lately he's been sucking and sucking at me like he did when he was a newborn - he was feeding in 10-15 minutes up until recently but now he can be feeding for 30 mins or more and when I try to pull him away he tightens his grip and cries.

I have no idea what's going on with him - any thoughts? Could it be that he's hungry & needs more food at mealtimes? or is it a comfort thing (he still has no teeth so may well be teething)? I'm finding I'm getting sore again even though I thought I had nipples like old leather months ago

hi, think he may definitely be teething, is he rubbing his gums against your nipple? try some teething gel just before you feed, takes away the urge to stimulate itchy gums while feeding but he may also need more milk, you might consider starting some formula feeds but if totally opposed try expressing instead and replacing the more painful feeds with the expressed milk
