Silent Reflux returning at 17 weeks?

I have a 17 week old son. Formula fed (Cow&Gate) When he was about 8-9 weeks we suspected silent reflux and took him to the doctors. He would writhe in pain when feeding, have hiccups a lot, farts alot, would constantly choke, sometimes has a stuffy nose.

We were advised to put him on a thicker milk. He’s been having the Cow & Gate anti reflux milk ever since and he’s been fine. Takes his bottles no problem. Then the last 2/3 days he is seeming to revert to how he was before. Writhing again, his poops smell horrendous. (No D&V). He’s developed eczema on the side of his head. He won’t take a feed if he is on one of us. We have to prop him up on a cushion or tilted in his high chair and even then it’s still a bit of a struggle. Feeding time is becoming very stressful and I feel so sorry for him.

Has anyone been through this? Did the doctors prescribe anything? I’m waiting for a call back from the health visitor but just wanted some opinions from anyone that can relate.

Sounds very much like CMPA. It’s fairly common for babies with this to be better on a new milk for a short time then not be.

Have a read of this from Allergy UK and sed if any of the symptoms are familiar Flowers

Cow’s Milk Allergy

Cow’s milk allergy is an abnormal response by the body’s immune system in which proteins in a food are recognised as a potential threat.

Hi, have you managed to get to the bottom of this? My son has similar issues. Refuses to drink when asleep, farts a lot, recently been opening his bowels a lot, gassy and sometimes develops a dry red patch on the side of his face. When he was born he was on C&G but changed over to HIPP organic, he was a lot better since. But this week he’s gone back to how he was, Im unsure if this sounds like silent reflux?

Has anyone mentioned the possibility of CMPA?
