12 week old still coughing / choking on bottle

Hi everyone,

FTM to a 12 week old looking for some advice. He was prescribed hypoallergenic formula and lansoprazole for suspected CMPA and reflux around 8 weeks, after a tough first two months of constant crying and discomfort.

He’s a MUCH happier baby now but the one thing we’re still struggling with is him choking and coughing on the bottle at least once a day. He’s always self corrected and almost looks annoyed when I don’t give him the bottle back quick enough but it’s terrifying!

We feed him upright, burp him multiple times during the feed, pace feed him and still have him on the smallest lansinoh teat. He is combi fed and has coughed/ chocked on the boob but this is rare.

Any ideas on how we can help him? An osteo mentioned he’s got a high pallet. Is there a different brand teat that might work better? Sometimes he loses the latch on the bottle and sometimes it seems like he’s having to work really hard to coordinate breathing, sucking and swallowing. I feel like I have to watch him like a hawk and listen out for the swallowing which has made me really uncomfortable feeding him anywhere but home.

Sounds like he might have Tongue Tie?
