Oooh you poor thing - it sounds painful ++++

I think it would be worth giving the pharmacy a ring or going back to ask them if you're close to it. I have taken various meds whilst bf, not all are bad but you do need to get the right info from pharmacist or dr.
How old is your baby and what are the meds - in case a chemist-y person happens to wander in here?

You need to say which painkillers they are. I had very strong ones for gall stones when dd was tiny, and was warned that although not recommended whilst bf, the side effects on dd would just be that she would be sleepy and get constipated.

Not quite clear whether you were just given one dose in the hospital, or have some to take at home? If just in hospital then call them up and ask - it will be on your record what you had.
