7 week old fighting at feeding time?

hi

have a 7 wek old ds and in the last week or so he has started fighting when i'm feeding him about, 11.30pm. he feeds really well normally and i've had no problems feeding him so far.

he pulls off and then shakes his head like mad and then latches on again and pulls off cring for a second and then when he realises he's not being fed shakes his head and latches back on again.

it upsets and annoys me when he does this as i don't know why he's doing it. do i not have enough milk or could it be because he uses a dummy? or is it something else altogether?

please help

I'm no expert and I'm sure there are better qulaified and more expereinced people on here that will give you advice, but as far as I know it's normal.

My dd used to fight me at night and she just grew out of it in the end.

I found winding her during her feed helped her.

thank you, have tried winding him and sometimes he has wind and other times not.

does anyone else have any other ideas or suggestions please?

Bumping this up for you, there will be more people aroind this morning

my dd did that. it turned out we had thrush, very common apparently. has your areola lost its brownness? are your nipples bright red? do you have sharp pains after feeding? if so it is thrush? also baby will make a clicking sound when feeding!
if not baby might just have wind or mine also does that being doing a big poo!!!

hi - my baby does the same - we just diagnosed with silent reflux. there are lots of good threads to peek into that have really helped us - good luck

My little girl has done this since she was 6 weeks old. We thought it was reflux, but after trying every medication on the market the doc just thinks shes a greedy little thing and gets frustrated when my milk flow slows down. She is fine to feed when really sleepy and at night though which is strange. I did find that expressed milk in a bottle kept her a bit happier and meant i could take her out in public occasionally! HOld on in there though as she's nearly 6 weeks old and still being breast fed, just feeding very quickly and not in public much!!

hi

thank you all for the replies. winding him seems to help a bit sometimes, but other times i think he's just too hungry, but glad to know it's not just me it's happening to and that it's not something i'm doing wrong! thanks again xx
