BF and returning to work

I’ve been EBF my son for 7 months (aside from introducing weaning at 6 months but his actual food intake atm is negligible, and introducing 1 formula feed a day over the last few days) and will be returning to work FT soon at 8 months.

I don’t really want to have to pump milk at work. I’d ideally like to BF before and after work, at night and during the weekends but use formula during the day when I’m at work.

I’m not sure if this is a silly question but is this possible? Or would I need to pump during the weekdays to maintain supply?

I’m interested to know what others have done in a similar situation.

It’s fine, supply just keeps going at the amount of BFing you’re doing. Mine was combi-fed. I was down to two BFs a day by nine months and one a day from 18mo. Then a few times per week from 2.5 years.
I did initially pump once during the day when back at work, but that was more to do with worrying about leaking than anything else else.

@RidingMyBike thank you for replying.

When you were doing two times per day was that everyday? Or were you able to breastfeed more at the weekend, but twice a day on weekdays?

i had to pump when I started back at work, my boobs were so hard and painful!!! So try and get into the routine you want in plenty of time to allow your body to adjust.

Most days were BF twice a day by then. Supply is a lot more flexible by that point so eg if they’re ill they BF more often and the milk is there. I didn’t do any night feeds after 8 weeks. And we always alternated who did bedtime so I didn’t always do that feed.
