If you are planning a large night out and would like to let your hair down, how much should you express off before you can breastfeed child again?

On the one occasion I actually managed this I just emptied both boobs before I went to bed and kept my fingers crossed ds wouldn't want feeding in the night - luckily that night he didn't!

If you were more organised perhaps get some express out of the freezer and have it on standby.

Have fun!

Thomcat · 30/05/2008 09:41

So empty each boob just the once and I should be ok.

So if i give her expressed milk from my stores first thing in the morning, and get rid of bad milk, then don't feed her again till 3pm it shouyld be ok?

Definately. Have fun!

wasabipeanut · 30/05/2008 09:44

You only feed her once in the morning thrn again at 3???

georgiemama · 30/05/2008 09:44

you don't need to, your breasts are not milk tanks which fill up with nasty alcoholic milk which must then be removed before good clean milk comes. Its more like your blood supply, it is continually reabsorbed and renewed.

I would allow one hour per unit of alcohol drunk for the milk to be properly alki free though.

BumperliciousNeedsToSleep · 30/05/2008 09:45

I don't think you need to pump and dump. The alcohol metabolises as it does in your blood stream so as long as you don't feed while hammered I think you are ok, though if you are going a long time between feeds you may want to pump for your own comfort.

Info from LLL HERE

No need to pump and dump, as long as you are not bladdered when actually BFing!

Thomcat · 30/05/2008 09:52

Ah I seeeeee. Sounded earlier like you had an 8 hour gap between feeds!

Anyway, I think you have all the answers you need. I hoep you enjoy a good night out. I'm not jealous at all

lackaDAISYcal · 30/05/2008 10:01

If you are out in the evening and she doesn't usually wake for a feed in the night, then you'll be OK to feed her in the morning as usual

enjoy your night out

MarsLady · 30/05/2008 10:15
