Help! Teeth and breastfeeding...ouch!

DD is 6 months old and her first tooth appeared a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately for me she has started to bite during BF. It was so bad this evening (she made my nipple bleed ) I had to stop and mix up a bottle. I've tried giving her a stern 'no' but it doesn't seem to work. I hadn't planned on stopping BF just yet but I'm really not sure I can put up with that again!

Does anyone have any experience of this and/or and tips that might help us through it?

It's really painful isn't it?

Next time she does it try bringing her towards your breast (rather than pulling away), she will let go to take a breath. The usual advice is to completely ignore, put her down and walk away, although I found it impossible not to cry out!

DS did this on and off over about a week, and for a day he went on strike and wouldn't feed (I think my shouts frightened him), but he soon stopped the biting and is still bf at 22m.

I found lansinoh cream excellent for the wound, whatever you do don't let it dry out.......agony!
