sick after tongue tie cut?

my 2 week old baby had his tongue tie cut yesterday on the NHS. It was a bad one, anterior 100% tied at the front and lots of tissue to cut through - he spent most of yesterday hysterical it was awful. Through the night and today so far, he’s been sick every feed, quite a lot too. No blood in sick from swallowing any just all milk.
Why might this be? He wasn’t doing this before so not sure what to do or why it might be happening, has this happened to anyone else?? Thanks!

Is he still being sick OP? I was thinking about this earlier and thought, his tongue tie probably made it difficult for him to feed, so now it's gone maybe the milk is going faster into his tummy and he's just not used to that amount of volume that fast? X

DD2 had a 90% tongue tie cut and I think because she was able to take more milk more effectively, it took her a while to relearn how to drink so the volumes didnt overwhelm her. The hysterical second day happened to us too - apparently thats very common. We had a pretty grumpy first week and then things started to improve. We had some further issues down the line that even now (at 15months), im not sure whether they were related to the TT or not, but if you are bf, id say def make sure you are working with an IBCLC who has TT experience as it will make a massive difference. If you are bottle feeding, make sure you are pacing feeds slowly whilst they get used to the new tongue movement.

@dontcomeatme i was thinking the same today!! Yes he is still being sick 😪 not as projectile but it’s every feed! But that does make sense doesn’t it!

@Slowfeedingbaby i am combi feeding so yes we are doing pace feeding and in touch the feeding team for breast support. At least i know its common how upset they get the day / days after! i felt awful. It’s starting to ulcer now into the diamond shape which i have heard is a good thing!
Thanks both for your replies 🙌🏻

Yes the diamond shape is what it needs to be, so thats great news. Do they have you doing the scar massage? Some hospitals do suggest it and others don't but it was the worst part for me!

@Slowfeedingbaby No they told me not to do it because i actually asked about them, they said the guidelines don’t recommend them due to infection! Yes everywhere seems different doesn’t it
