Thinking of reintroducing the morning bottle as worried 18mo not getting enough milk... is this the right thing to do?

I need advice please...

18mo dd currently has milk on her cereal for breakfast (couple of ounces), cheese and yogurt during the day and an evening bottle (8oz). We dropped the morning and afternoon bottles around 14mo partly as I was trying to wean her off the bottle and partly because at her nursery they said she didn't need milk during the day any more.

However, a few weeks ago I started wondering if she's getting enough calcium per day from this. Have tried giving her a cup of milk with her breakfast and the most she'll have is a couple of sips - the same if I offer a cup of milk during the day.

She's definitely not getting a pint of milk a day, but it would take me all day to get her to drink another 8oz from a cup! Seems the only option is to reintroduce more bottle feeds but it seems a retrogressive step.

Has anyone else experienced this? What's the best way forward?

ds has a cup of milk as soon as he wakes up and we wait for an hour or so before giving him his cereal. You might find it easier to get her to drink more if you separate the food from the drink iykwim.
Yoghurt is high in calcium though so I'm sure if she eats both that and cheese she'll be fine

I have similar that my ds too has 8oz of follow on in a bottle at bed (refuses to drink any if in a cup) and then has cows milk on cereal, a yogurt at dinner and wont drink milk at breakfat just spits out btu will drink water..... I want to convert to another drinking implement at bedtime but worry his milk will drop to 0oz!

I never really conisidered he wasnt gettign enough.

I am reassured by HV yogurt and cheese offer calcium and it doesnt have to be all milk milk milk....

Mornings are a dash so we really dont get to hang about an hr to seperate drinks and breakfast.

Thanks for swift replies!

Starlight - she has 8oz in a bottle in the evening -that's all. I've used loads of cups - the Tommee Tippee flip spout thingy, the Avent ones with the handles, one with Pooh bear on it, a normal non-sippy cup (regretted that one!) all with similar results.

Shoppingbags (lol at name!) - We used to give her a bottle in the morning, but it seemed to sabotage her breakfast appetite - which was partly why I stopped it.

Nappyzone - is there a particular reason you're still using follow on rather than cow's milk? Is there 'more' in it IYSWIM?

I think so - we keep saying its the last tin we will buy and then ds gets ill again (hes been ill on and off since xmas!) so me thinks more vit c in or something to help his system gets better again but really i aint a clue - the fact he wont drink normal milk makes me think he will drink nothing if not follow on. I am going to offer him cows milk slightly warmed tom night to see if we can get him off it then we need to defo address the bottle issue.
