Pregnant & on methyldopa to control bp - will it affect bf?

I am 22 weeks and my bp was high and is being controlled with 1g of methyldopa a day (latest reading was 126 over 83, which mw happy with).
However, I have heard that while safe to take during pregnancy, methyldopa can affect your chances of successful bf. Can anyone offer their thoughts? Should I ask to change to another bp tablet?

I had labetalol when I was pregnant with ds2 and it didn't affect me so maybe you could try that

I was on methyldopa for about 3 weeks before ds was born at 34 weeks - I had gallons of milk and he is still bf at 22 months. I was told that methyldopa was the safest med to give pg women for high bp, but it might be worth asking your mw. Methyldopa did make me very sleepy though - fortunately it didn't really matter as I was in hospital (bonus really, helped with the boredom!) but I woudln't have liked to try to live a normal life like that.
