Help Please

not sure where to post this but my 7 week old baby has just been sick all of her feed has just come up never seen so much sick in my life whats wrong do you think what should i do shall i ring hv??

This happens sometimes. I think you only have to worry if they keep bringing up their entire feed. DS2 has done this a few times, and it's quite startling, a whole river of milk comes out, and everyone's wet to the waist. But it passed - for a few days, he'd bring up about one feed per day. I didn't bother taking him to the doctor.

Babybob if it was just the once don?t worry no harm will come. My ds is not typically a ?sicky? baby but he did this once when he was a few weeks old, after a feed massive projectile vomit everywhere, then he never did it again. If it keeps happening you should contact HV and check she is getting enough fluid down her and there isn?t an underlying problem but if it was just the once I would hold off for now and just see what happens next time. Is your baby otherwise well/her normal self?

yes shes just gone to sleep she seems ok when she was awake shes was looking around and seemed happy think may be just panicing as it was a shock to see so much sick!! i will wait and see what happens at next feed

this can happen when baby's been greedy too and maybe taken in a lot of wind. Hope she's ok.

It's perfectly natural for this to happen sometimes. And I know you think it was teh whle feed, but I would bet a lot of money that it wasn't - baby milk vomit always looks far nmore copious than it really is.
Try throwing just a couple of ounces of milk over yourself, or a muslin and you'll see - honesly it looks like rivers.

oh i remember when this happened with ds. i was so shocked. all that lovely milk gone to waste. it never happened again, my mum said it was because i hadn't winded him properly. i'd only be worried if it keeps happening. have you tried feeding her again?

My ds used to spit up quite a bit after his feedings and I felt like he wasn't keeping much of anything down. I did mention this to a nurse at one of his checkups and they suggested giving Infant Gaviscon to help with the reflux. As I was breastfeeding it was a pain to give to him but he did grow out of it (spitting up, that is). Maybe just try to wind your baby a few times during the feed. That may help too.

hi just feed her again and shes fine didnt have much of a feed but shes asleep now. I do wind her during the feed a few times as shes a very burpy baby!!! like i said i was in shock to see so much!!!

Just to let u no my ds did that to, relatively often aswell. He's done it in front of the health visitor who was not worried at all. She said many babies are sick every now and again.

hi lo seems to be ok but yesterday and now shes only have 10 min feeds if is has more then shes sick she used to have 30 min and was fine i think that she whould be getting what she needs from me as she is settling ok afterwards but it just seems as she not getting much.

At 7 weeks she is probably just getting really efficient. Or could be having a little lull before a growth spurt.

If she is happy, then she is okay.
