Sterilising Nuby RapidCool

Hey Mumsnetters I'm praying someone can help me out because I feel like I'm being an idiot...
I'm a FTM to a combi-fed 12 week old. I just bought a Nuby RapidCool because I'm out and about with her alot and waiting half an hour for formula to cool after adding boiling water from a thermos is not it.
Anyway, I usually steam sterilise at home and cold sterilise (with Milton) when away. The Nuby instructions recommend cold water sterilisation for all elements of the rapid cool. BUT! Here's my dilemma – Milton can't be used on metal, it literally says on the instructions. The RapidCool is metal...am I missing something? Is there a metal-safe cold water sterilisation approach? Please help my PP, hormone-addled brain 🧠

You can steam steralise the base, it's only the lid that can't go in. I use the milton solution for the lids.

RapidCool base: The base of your RapidCool can be sterilised using UV sterilisation, cold-water sterilisation, or steam sterilisation (note: it is not microwave-safe)

Thanks so much for replying ❤️. So you don't have any issues with Milton corroding the metal bases? X

I never put the formula powder in the rapid cool,so it didn’t need sterilizing. I used the hot shot method where I added 60ml boiling water from the thermos to the bottle, mixed in the formula, and then topped up with pre sterilised cold water (from the rapid cool) to 160ml. (You can double check the ratios online) Since the rapid cool then only ever had sterilised water in it, I felt it didn’t need further sterilising.

No problem! Nope no problem. Nuby posted this method of cleaning the lids on their facebook page which is why I started.

I just give them a rinse with previously boiled water afterwards to get rid of any residue.

Rapidcool is great for going out and about once you get the hang of it! Good luck xx

Get one of the Nuby rapid sterilisers - they sterilize in 60 seconds using UV and only cheap - great and simple piece of kit - they sell them on Amazon so can have it next day
