Glass bottles - self sterilising

Hi everyone, I’m looking to transfer to glass bottles instead for formula feeding. Are there any you can “self sterilise” in the microwave, as opposed to buying a sterilising machine. Thanks all xx

I sterilise jam jars in the microwave. I put some water in them (maybe 1/4-1/3 full) and microwave on high until the water boils for 30s or so. I think that's about 60s total.

I would have thought you could do the same with the glass bottle, but what about the teat, and the screw ring and cap? They need wet heat. Simplest thing would probably be to just buy some microwave sterilising bags.

I used glass bottles and just sterilised them in Milton cold water liquid. Saves lots of faffing

You can even get reusable microwave sterilising bags:

We had a nuk microwave steriliser - it was about £10, you put water in the bottom, 4 bottles, teats, rings, lids in the middle, lid on top and then in the microwave for 5mins. We didnt use glass bottles but I can't see why it wouldn't work the same way unless the bottles are a very unusual shape.

I sterilised glass Mam bottles in a Tommee Tippee microwave steriliser, no faff at all. Bit of water in the bottom, 6 mins in microwave, allow to cool. Got it second hand, probably tons on FB marketplace.
Also used Milton cold water system when on holiday, more faffy, particularly having to have copious cooled boiled water to rinse at the ready.

Thanks guys, @HiCandles @NewUserIDRequired i didn’t realise there were sterilisers you could put in the microwave. Thought it was all just sterilisers that sat on the worktop. Thanks so much!

Yeah we have the avent sterilizer that goes in the microwave. It's excellent.
