Dropping a night feed...how will my boobs know?

This is probably a really stupid question. When DS starts to drop a night feed, will my boobs get horribly engorged? At the moment if I miss a feed they get uncomfortable, so if he doesn't wake for the 2am feed will they get sore and leak? Will I have to wake up anyway and express?

macaco they will get full and leak abit the first few times but your body will quickly adapt. You wont need to express but if you get very engorged it might be difficult for your baby to latch on, so it might be helpful to express for a few minutes to make it easier for him. This helped for me anyway.

If it's uncomfortable, you can express just enough to make it feel ok (a few squirts), then stop. That should make sure you don't get engorged but allow the milk to reduce.
If you wanted express and keep the milk, you could give him it in the day and then he will probably be fuller and reduce the night feeds on his own by taking less at night anyway.
